COVID-19 - Overhyped problem?

Thanks to the media hype and the shutdown in almost all of India, we all know what Coronavirus is and how it has thrown the entire world into disarray. Recently, we did an article on whether or not India is prepared to deal with this menace. In that article, I mentioned that the onus is on the people and not on the government: the people are the ones who are going to decide how successful any moves taken by the government can be.

In our personal experience, we at Openions saw many people not taking the curfew seriously or not taking the necessary precautions. “Faaltu ka media exaggeration hai, sab normal hi hai” was the stance taken by several people. So, we decided to do this small piece about how serious Corona is and how it can impact your body.

To start off, what are the symptoms of CoronaVirus? Most symptoms can only be seen around 2-14 days after the body has already been infected with the virus. These symptoms include fever, rashes, cough, and a shortness of breath. Other symptoms may include tiredness, runny nose, aches, and a sore throat. If you are suffering from one or more of these symptoms, please get yourself checked as soon as possible.

While the mortality rate of the Coronavirus is relatively lower than some of the other viruses, the major problem lies in the transmission. The transmission rate of the virus is very very high which is why several states in India have been completely shut down.

Since Corona spreads from physical contact, it is of paramount importance that you avoid going to any public places as much as possible. If you absolutely have to go to the market or your office, avoid physical contact with others and wash your hands as frequently as possible.

The complications arising from Coronavirus may include pneumonia, multiple organ failure, or even death. People who have diabetes, influenza, or AIDS are at a greater risk of being infected by this virus.

This is a heartfelt request to all our readers: Please stay safe and keep others safe as well. Avoid public contact as much as possible. Wash your hands as frequently as possible.

Also, a huge Thank You to all the medical professionals working day and night to help as many people as possible. Aap hai to hum hai 😊
